The 4th!

I hope you had a happy 4th of July!

I had to work in the morning and got off around three in the afternoon. I came home and changes my clothes and headed down to Sandy to my aunt Barbra's house. We had a BBQ and some fireworks.

Grandpa with his festive hat!
Josh & JJ.
Josh, Barbie and JJ flew in from Chicago for the holiday. I hadn't seen Josh for a long time and this was my first time meeting JJ. He is absolutley adorable. He is to the walking stage and is running everywhere. He loved the slide!

So cute!

Josh & JJ

Andrew.

He is my Jessica's cousin second child. He is absolutley hilarious and very cute. He loves to get his picture taken probably because Jess is a professional photographer and she takes lots of pictures of her kids.

Jess sure has taught her children how to smile for the camera. :)

Tyler

Kara.

She is Jessica's youngest. She has a little walker toy that she LOVES and always is pushing around.

Andrew and Rachel eating watermelon.

Rachel is Jessica's oldest.

The festive cake that Annette made for desert.

Some street fireworks that we set off. I have to say that I was quite disapointed this year in the fireworks. I am used to huge aerial ones like the onse we do back in Washington. Aerial fireworks were illegal here until this year so not a whole lot of people bought some.

Kortney and Chelsea doing a tank war.

A tank!

It still is light outside as you probably noticed. Jess didn't want to keep her kids up late so we had to do them before it got dark. The Poulsen's and I did do some more once we got back home and it was dark. The firework were a lot more impressive in the dark.

Highlight of the day!

We had some flower fireworks in a paper bag and Kortney made the mistake of walking past it while holding a sparkler in her hand. A spark jumped from the sparkler and landed in the bag setting off all the flowers! Tyler ran forward and threw it into the middle of the driveway since it had been by all of us and the cars. The bag burst into flame and the flowers just about exploded. It was the coolest thing ever!

What was left of all the flowers. As you can see there were a ton of flowers in the bag. Ha ha. It did leave a mark on the driveway which aunt Barb was not to happy about. I'm pretty sure this will go down in 4th of July history.

To the Drive-In

I'm a little behind on blogging so a little back tracking.

Marisa really wanted to see the Green Lantern before she went on her mission so we decided to go to the Drive-In movies!

We made some chocolate covered popcorn for the occasion. Yes it is purple! You take about two and half bags of buttered popcorn and pop it. Then you melt chocolate pieces, which can be found at most craft stores, and stir it in with the chocolate. So delicious!!
So yummy!

Kortney stealing a taste!

Licking the spoons.

At the drive-in!

Tyler, Marisa and Kortney waiting for the movie to start.

Annette & Roy.

We watched two movies the Green Lantern and the new X-Men movie. They were both pretty good. I haven't seen all the X-Men movies before so it was a little confusing. We didn't get home till 2am! and then I had to be at work at 8am so I didn't get very much sleep that night. It took my quite a while to finally catch up on that missed sleep.

Adams Canyon

I have wanted to go hiking really bad since I found out that there is a nice one right near where we live but I haven't been able to go till now because I couldn't con anyone to go with me and I figured I shouldn't go by myself. So I eneded up going with Kortney and some of her newly graduated high school friends. To say I felt very old would be an understatment. :)

From the top of the initial climb. So Beautiful. You can see really far. You can't see it in this picture I don't think but when you look out you can see the Great Salt Lake.
Before we entered the wooded area.

It was the perfect day for a hike. It was so beautiful and peaceful.

Who knew Utah could be beautiful? ;)

The river was very high so on some parts we had to crawl over and around rocks. Extreme hiking baby!

Stopped to catch our breath after one of the many steep hills.

Kortney and I. Don't we make a cute pair. :)

Mmm.....Delightful.

So from far away this looked like a body and totally freaked me out. It was really an inflatable raft. Ha ha ha.

So close! The actual waterfall we were trying to hike to is right up around the corner but we couldn't get there because the river was roaring and much higher than it usually is. I guess you can go further up and walk out onto the rocks but the river was very swift and 5 people have already died this year I heard. So sad.

A Rainbow Cloud!! Almost as good as a double rainbow!!! ;)

Cheese Balls

So this is kind of a totally random post...but what the heck! Why not?! :)

So I LOVE the show Chuck. It is the awesomest (Is that even a word?). So in one season he gets very depressed because the love of his life Sarah is kind of ignoring him so he sits at home and eats Cheese Balls all day. In the picture above he is sleeping with them. Isn't he so cute? Anywho I found the exact same Cheese Balls at the store and my aunt was nice enough to buy them for me. Yes I'll admit I'm a little obsessed. :)
Very delicious! I can see why he ate them for like 24/7. Good comfort food!!!

A Little of this and a Little of that

This is McKay-Dee Hospital. This isn't the best view of the hospital but this is the side of the hospital that I entered in. It is a lot bigger than it looks. Friday was my last day. :( It was a lot harder to leave than I thought it was going to be. I got really close to all the people I worked with and even some of the patients. My co-workers gave me a card that they all signed with the sweetest messages. I'm really going to miss them all. I had to go turn in my badge to the edcuation coordinator and that was hard too. I'm so used to wearing that thing around my neck. On a side note I actually applied for a job at the hospital. I found out my last week that they were hiring for a part time weekend person and I applied!!! Now I'm just waiting to here if they want to interview me or not. The suspense is killing me! I REALLY want this!! :)

Marisa has to ride a bike on her mission and hadn't ridden one in a really long time so on Saturday we decided to go for a ride. We had to dust of the bikes and put air in the tires. We just rode around the neighbor hood but it burned my thighs!! We went up these two hills and the second one just about killed us. We both felt we were going to throw up our big pancake breakfast. I think we went to soon after we ate. He he.

We look so stylin'. :)

We went in saw Thor in 3D. So here we are with our styling glasses. There was hardly anyone else in the theater which was really nice. Kortney is pretty funny when she watches movies. She makes a lot of noises its pretty funny. :)

My relatives introduced me to Jake's Over the Top Shakes which are so delicious!!! This is a medium shake and it is BIG. It has melted a little but it is usually over the top of the cup hence the name of over the top shakes. This is the grasshopper one and it is to die for. DELICIOUS!!

This is kind of a random picture. This is Tyler watching Chuck under a blanket. The sun was causing glare on his screen so he put a blanket over his head. He is a funny kid.

To Grandmother's House We Go...

So we try and go visit Grandma and Grandpa every Sunday for a nice visit. Barb and her family usually join us too. We all crammed into Grandma's small apartment one time and it was quite cozy. ;) The next Sunday we decided to go to Barb's house which is really close to Grandma's so we had to pick up grandma and grandpa. Since we wouldn't all fit this was the result. I layed across everyone's lap so Grandma and Grandpa could fit in. Luckily it was a short drive. :)

Ta da! So Beautiful!!!

Big flower!!

We shopped till we dropped to find this dress. Most of the dresses these days are short and when you are really tall then they are SUPER short. We finally found this dress which I really liked!
